In recent years more importance has been placed on the quality and content of provision for pre-school children. For the Pre-school to qualify for three and four year old funding we must comply with OFSTED guidelines and undergo, and pass, OFSTED Inspections. If you would like to see a copy of our last inspection report, please follow the link.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s `school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. There are seven areas of learning and development, all areas of learning are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These are: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Language and Communication. The children are also supported in four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied. The specific areas are: Literacy Development, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
It is the philosophy of the Crypt Pre-School that early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring, and discovery. Pre-school children are creative and receptive; the Staff strive to nurture and encourage these qualities in the children. The Crypt Pre-school will contribute to nurture all aspects of a child's development: physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional. No one aspect will be ignored. The child's development and their potential will be challenged, exercised, and supported. We at the Crypt Pre-school want to not only help young children form basic concepts, but also nurture creativity. Each child will be stimulated, guided, and encouraged in carefully planned activities that allow the child to develop at his/her own rate. The Staff at the Pre-school will strive to make each child's Pre-school experience a positive one. We will encourage positive feelings about themselves, the Pre-school, and the environment.
